Privacy Policy
The short version: Stepglow doesn't collect any of your data.
Everything Stepglow uses stays on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and nothing is ever sent to us or anyone else.
Who we are
Stepglow is made by Cascadia Digital Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Stepglow iPhone app and its widgets use, and how.
What Stepglow reads
With your permission, Stepglow reads:
- Step count and walking + running distance from Apple Health. This includes steps recorded by an Apple Watch. Stepglow only reads this data. It never writes to or changes your Health data.
- Step and distance data from your iPhone's motion sensor (Motion & Fitness). This keeps the count current, even while your iPhone is locked.
Stepglow reads up to the last three years of daily step totals. It uses them to show today's progress, your week and month history and individual past days, and to count your streaks and badges.
Where your data is kept
Your daily step totals, your daily goal (and when you changed it), and your streaks and badges are stored only on your iPhone, in storage shared between the Stepglow app and its widgets so they can show the same numbers. This data is never sent off your device, never stored in iCloud, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising or marketing.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Stepglow lets you know when you reach your daily goal, and when that earns you a streak badge. These notifications are created on your iPhone itself. No notification service, server or third party is involved.
Your choices
- Turn off Health access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Stepglow.
- Turn off motion access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.
- Turn off notifications in Settings → Notifications → Stepglow.
- Deleting Stepglow removes everything it stored on your iPhone.
This website
This website (stepglow.app) uses Fathom Analytics to count visits. Fathom doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal information, and doesn't track you across other websites. We only see totals, like how many people visited a page. If you try a theme on the site, your choice is saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
Children
Stepglow doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If Stepglow ever starts collecting data, we'll update this policy before that change ships.
